The Solidarity difference

Preparation is everything.

Anyone can make a wall look painted for a season. Making it stay painted through North Bay winters takes the work nobody photographs — done in full, in order, every time.

  1. Inspect & diagnose

Every surface is walked and probed before a brush comes out — paint failure, open joints, and suspect wood are identified and written into the scope.

  2. Wash & scrape

Dirt, chalk, and mildew are washed off; failing paint is scraped back to a sound edge. Paint holds only to what's clean and stable.

  3. Repair dry rot

Rotted wood can't be patched over — infected members are cut out and replaced so the fungus doesn't keep spreading behind fresh paint.

  4. Sand & feather

Scraped edges are sanded smooth and feathered so old and new coatings read as one surface, not a patchwork.

  5. Caulk & seal

Joints, seams, and window perimeters are caulked to keep water out — the single best deterrent against the next round of rot.

  6. Mask & protect

Windows, roofing, hardware, decks, and plantings are masked and draped. Interiors get drop cloths and plastic sheeting before any paint is opened.

  7. Prime & finish

Bare and repaired surfaces are primed, then finish coats of Dunn-Edwards, Benjamin Moore, or Sherwin-Williams are applied to the written specification.

Mid-project: windows masked, scaffolds set — and trim boards finished flat on sawhorses before they ever touch the wall.

The same window corner on a Solidarity project: concealed dry rot opened up, rebuilt, sealed, and repainted — the failure and the fix, photographed honestly.

Fountaingrove & Larkfield, Santa Rosa

A repeat client across two homes and eleven years

“Greg and his team at Solidarity Painting have my highest recommendation for excellence in painting.”

Exterior painting in 2008, again in 2019, interior work between — and then the interior and exterior of a second home in Larkfield. The strongest reference isn't a review; it's a client who keeps calling back.

A family legacy

The Kuzmicki family has kept one promise since 1990

Greg Kuzmicki learned the trade in 1978, painted San Francisco high-rises and Pacific Heights mansions, and founded Solidarity in Santa Rosa in 1990 with his wife Alice. Their son Adam grew up on these jobsites — journeyman, then foreman, now the manager carrying the company into its second generation.
